The Title I Schoolwide Handbook was used as a guide for our School Improvement Committee planning process. Committee members were assigned a chapter to facilitate and then began to go through the seven chapters. For the Needs Assessment component committee members divided into sub-committees to gather and evaluate a wide variety of assessment instruments. After the data was gathered the committee reviewed the information, determine those areas that were strengths, areas that needed to be improved and then prioritized the "needs improvement" areas. The following instruments used in the needs assessment: 1. Three years of testing data for the ISAT, DWA and the DMA
2. "Influences on Achievement Form" from the Schoolwide handbook to assess the areas of: 1) School Organization, 2) Highly Qualified Staff and Professional Development, 3) Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and 4) Family and Community Involvement.
3. "Achievement Characteristic Form" from the Schoolwide handbook to gather three years of demographic data.
4. "Snapshot Survey of School Effectiveness Factors" developed by Robert Marzano and taken by the faculty/staff to survey the areas of: 1) Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, 2) Challenging Goals and Effective Feedback, 3) Parent and Community Involvement, 4) Safe and Orderly Environment, 5) Collegiality and Professionalism, 6) Home Environment, 7) Learned Intelligence and Background Knowledge, 8) Student Motivation, 9) Instruction, 10) Classroom Management and 11) Classroom Curriculum Design.
5. "Indicators of School Quality", a survey that was taken by parents, teachers, students and staff members to assess the areas of: 1) Teacher Excellence, 2) Parent Support, 3) Instructional Quality, 4) Safety, 5) Administration and 6) Resource Accessibility.
6. "Safe School Survey" that was taken by students.
7. A review of attendance data taken from PowerSchool.
